JOHNSON CITY, Tenn.
— If you’re looking for a brand to keep your jewelry collection going strong, the best brands to keep it going strong are a little older and more worn out, according to a new study.
“The best jewelry brand is still there, and it’s still getting better,” said Sarah McPherson, a brand expert for BrandIndex.com, a website that tracks the top 10 jewelry brands by sales.
“There are still some very, very strong brands, and some brands are still making a lot of waves, and those brands still have a strong presence in our marketplace,” McPterson said.
“If you are going to keep buying a brand, you need to really look at it over a longer period of time.
You can’t afford to spend less than a year.
You have to see the benefits and the improvements over time.”
The study, commissioned by the Jewelers Guild of America, surveyed 1,800 jewelry shoppers and found that while the top five jewelry brands in terms of sales are no longer a household name, the market is saturated.
“While some brands have been around longer than others, they all have a consistent impact on sales,” said Scott Latham, senior director of sales and marketing for the Jeweler’s Guild.
“When you look at the best companies today, it’s not just about the sales.
It’s also about the brands that you want to buy.”
In the study, the five top jewelry brands included:Aquamarine, which has been around for decades.
Battista, which is based in Italy.
Covey, which was founded in 1969.
DeVonnie, which made the famous Chateau Margaux from the 1920s to the 1950s.
Eau de Toilette, which debuted in 1989.
Keller Williams, which launched in 1991.
The study was commissioned by a group of jewelers, who asked shoppers to rank their top 10 favorite jewelry brands based on their sales in the last year, according the study’s description.
“For the sake of simplicity, these rankings were based on sales from April 1, 2018 through June 30, 2018,” the report said.
The top five brands were:Aqua, which opened in 1878.
Ecolette, which had its debut in the 1960s.
Macy’s, which started in 1976.
Pateron, which came out in the early 1970s.
Bettas Jewelers, which closed in the 1990s.
These are the top 5 top jewelry brand sales in a year in the United States.
“As the industry continues to evolve, and as consumers demand better products, consumers are looking for brands that will offer them something that they can truly call their own,” McAdam said.
